I got around to the passenger door, an overdue interior detail and cleaned up some of my electronics going on in the dash this weekend. The inside of my car is turning into a much nicer place to spend time. Even the lovely Mrs. was rather impressed with how it's looking :)
Next up we fix an oil cooler line drip and replace that long dead speedo cable
Hi Travis,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for a few weeks now. I love what I've seen you do so far and can't wait to read more and see the cars progress.
It's been a dream of mine for a long time to restore an old Porsche. However, I only have an incredibly vague understanding of the art. Is there any literature or websites that you could recommend that could provide the learning tools and information that would help me to prepare myself to restore a car, or even to work on my own car.
Many thanks,
Connor
Thanks Connor, cars in general are simple machines, for the average home DIY'er it's just a matter of a bit of research and then jump in and try it.
DeleteIf you have positively zero experience start with and oil change, brake pads and simple modifications. As your tool collection and confidence grows the projects will too.
I've been a big participant in automotive forums since the middle 90's and have found them to be an invaluable source of information and tutorials/diy experiences. There is a forum for about any car you could ever think of to work on (just search for x-car forum on google)
For Porsches specifically try Pelicanparts.com and Rennlist.com, the forums there will give you how-to's and information for months.
Good luck, Travis
